MECHANICAL & ENERGY ENGINEERING — UNT
SANDESH
REGMI
Renewable Energy · Thermal Systems UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS

Engineering student. Self-taught. Trains heavy, eats clean. Consistency over motivation — in the gym and in the lab.

SCROLL
002 — ENGINEERING PROJECTS

EARLY WORK.
HONEST RESULTS.

Two class projects and one research track. None are revolutionary. All produced real lessons. That's the standard.

01
MECHANICAL DESIGN / ENERGY CONVERSION

Passive Propelled Vehicle

PROBLEM

Design a gravity-driven vehicle with zero external power that maximizes energy conversion efficiency.

SOLUTION

Low-friction chassis with optimized wheel geometry and mass distribution. Conservation of energy applied to maximize distance per elevation drop.

RESULT

Minimized parasitic bearing losses, reduced frontal area. Iterative testing validated the design.

02
STRUCTURAL DESIGN / PASSIVE MECHANICS

Gravity-Based Ball Sorter

PROBLEM

Separate solid golf balls from hollow practice balls with zero electronics or external power.

SOLUTION

Dual-track gravity ramp exploiting density differences. Calibrated aperture gate deflects hollow balls. Recycled structural materials.

RESULT

85% sort accuracy. Aperture tolerance identified as the limiting factor — documented for next iteration.

85% not 100%. The 15% failure rate is an aperture tolerance issue — acknowledged and documented.
03
RENEWABLE ENERGY / INDEPENDENT STUDY

Solar Energy Research

PROBLEM

Build foundational understanding of solar thermal systems before formal coursework.

SOLUTION

Independent research into concentrating solar power, PV efficiency, and thermal storage.

RESULT

Working knowledge of solar irradiance, efficiency losses, and system design that now informs academic focus.

EARLY STAGE.
CLEAR DIRECTION.

The path is set. UNT in Fall 2026. Energy internship by Fall 2027. Everything between now and then is execution — no ambiguity left.

LONG-TERM TARGET
Engineering → entrepreneurship. Build something that solves a real energy problem. Not a startup idea — an engineering solution.
Fall 2027
Target: Tier-1 Energy Internship

Renewable or thermal systems firm. Siemens Energy, GE Vernova, NextEra. Target — not a guarantee.

Fall 2026 – Spring 2028
UNT — B.S. Mechanical & Energy Engineering

Transferring with 3.725 GPA and PTK honors. Where the real technical foundation gets built.

Fall 2024 – Spring 2026
Dallas College — Foundation Engineering

Core prerequisites completed. Calculus III (A). Physics. First engineering projects. PTK member.
